Usually it is not difficult to find the distance index during travel, it tells us the exact distance of the places we are looking for. austria - the place where i climbed from hell to heaven

we went to europe in 1997 as our graduation tour. before getting on the plane, we didnt know our examination results. we used a lot of money for this trip but we would have no money to pay it back if we failed the exam and could not work to earn money later.

thanks to our professional agents, we saved a lot of money by buying cheap flight tickets, using youth eurail passes but as a student with a debt of more than $15000 in mind, i felt very stressful then.



after taking train and reaching austria, i had no mood to see anything as i knew it is the time to release the exam results by faculty. however, during my walk from hundertwasser haus (above ) to schloss schonbrunn (below), we received one of the most important phone call for our lives. it was a call from hk classmate, he told us we all passed the exam and graduated without any problem.



suddenly i felt as if climbing from hell to heaven. my pocket can have money in the future to pay back the debt and return the money to my parents for this trip. vienna is the turning point of that european trip.



later we moved to salzburg where our moods were completely different, we started to enjoy the trip completely and started to spend money in a reasonable way...................................gunwai

(in fact, studying in school is very different from working in society, school is always a heaven and society sometimes worse than hell!)

My dream ~~

In the last few days, I dreamt that I was in Maldives again in three consecutive nights. Different dream with different background ... I dreamt i walked along the sand bank; I dreamt i swam in the infinity pool; I also dreamt that I was in Cocoa Island walking along the path. When i woke up in the morning, I was so upset that they were just the DREAM. Dream can't be true, I can do nothing to realize my dream at this moment. we went to maldives in july 2008, during the return trip, we made a stop over male and visited its fish market. i saw a lot of interesting things during that visit.

from upper left photo, u can see many boats. from them, i understand how fishery is so important to the economy of the country.

from upper right photo, i can see a very big fish. many people like me came closer to have a look. we were all impressed by its huge size.

lower 2 photos, u can see the fishes were arranged in a systematic way for display, nice to have chance to take photos on them.

met old travelmate today

today afternoon, i met my university schoolmate at yau ma tei. he was my travelmate before and we went to europe together in 1997. that was my first time buying tickets and passes from our professional agent.
despite it's the issue of more than 10 years ago, still left many good memories. i remember at that time, our professional agent recommended thai airways for us. we needed to land twice before reaching our destination at holland.
our professional agent gave me many first experiences.
1. 1st time taking flights of thai airways
2. 1st time landing in bangkok
3. 1st time landing in zurich

at that time, i didnt have digital camera so not many photos taken. the photos below were taken later during my 2nd spell to these destinations.

london tube

just like hk's mtr, london also has an effective transport system, the tube. in fact, it should be the world's first such kind of system and somebody told me it's been there for at least 100 years. the nice thing is it's still doing a good job today by helping london people travelling from one place to another place. using them in a smart way helped me a lot during my previous visits to this great historical city.

i didnt take photos station by station. i only got 3 examples here but i think it is enough to illustrate how good the system is when u are a traveller in london.


chelsea is a famous football club in london. i am not its fans but still went there and had a look in 2006. the tube station is fulham broadway.




just like chep lap kok has airport express, london also has something similar, the heathrow express. paddington station is the tube station where we took the train to heathrow. unlike hk station, london airport express is on the ground even at its urban side terminal.


harrods is a famous department store. my ex-colleague told me even the queen likes to go there buying things. it can also be reached by the tube. (but i dont think the queen took this route in the past or planned to do so in the near future)

london is such a great city. many unforgotten memories, the tube is just one of them..........................................................................................................gunwai
